The Chief Information Officer of the Air Force Lauren Knausenberger expressed some reservations this week about the Defense Department’s big bet on securing its supply chain –Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification. Those comments follow a big hire by the board that oversees CMMC and a review from the top of the department.

• Karlton Johnson, Chairman of the CMMC Accreditation Body, said CMMC’s new Industry Advisory Council will provide an opportunity for vendors to provide feedback and voice concerns about CMMC implementation.
• Johnson said he is “extremely excited” about the new hire of the CMMC Accreditation Body’s first chief executive officer Matthew Travis, which will allow them to sustain and scale up operations to deploy CMMC.
• The CMMC Accreditation Body will remain transparent as the deputy secretary’s office conducts its review, said Johnson.
